Privacy-friendly website statistics
When native analytics is enabled, this website counts page views by day, page category and language to improve the website. Only these totals are retained for up to 90 days. Analytics stores no IP addresses, visitor IDs, individual events, full URLs or referrers and uses no cookies or browser storage. Articles share a single category. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control disable measurement. Only the owner can access these statistics. Hosting still receives technical connection data with requests, governed by its separate hosting and logging policy. Contact hello@gijsheerkens.com with questions.
Who runs this website?
Gijs Heerkens, trading as Heerkens Online (Dutch Chamber of Commerce 17222446), is responsible for the personal data you provide through this website. You can get in touch at hello@gijsheerkens.com.
What happens to your message?
The chat processes your messages and, if provided, your name and email address. Incoming emails and attachments are also processed in the chat inbox. I use these details to answer your question and discuss a potential collaboration. Processing is necessary to contact you at your request and, where applicable, take steps towards an agreement.
Mailing list
When you subscribe, I store your email address, chosen language, subscription date and any name or labels later added in the private administration. I use these details only to send updates about new articles and projects, based on your consent. You can unsubscribe or withdraw that consent at any time.
Storage and security
The website is hosted on Vercel. Chat conversations are processed on the server and stored in Supabase. Resend processes incoming and outgoing email. A secure cookie retains access to your conversation for 30 days. Your browser also remembers your draft and when you dismiss chat, preventing automatic reopening for 30 days. Stored chat attachments are deleted after seven days. They are not publicly accessible. A keyed hash of your IP address is temporarily used to prevent abuse; your original IP address is not stored in the contact database. Hosting providers may also process technical logs.
How long is data kept?
I keep correspondence for as long as needed to handle your enquiry or our collaboration. You can ask me to delete your details. Where a statutory retention period applies, I follow that requirement. Chat rate-limit data expires after one day and is cleaned up with the next chat message.
Cookies and external links
This website does not itself set advertising or analytics cookies. Articles can contain embedded posts or videos from X/Twitter, Instagram, YouTube or Vimeo. Those embeds load only on the relevant article and may allow their provider to process technical data under its own privacy policy. Links to LinkedIn and WIP also open external services.
Your rights
You can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or transfer of your personal data, and object to processing. Email hello@gijsheerkens.com to make a request. You can also lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
