I often notice something interesting or have an idea, then struggle to find it again. In my original article I saw Evernote as a solution: one place for notes, photos, web pages and voice memos. The name of the app matters less than the question behind it: how do you make scattered information useful again?
Save with a purpose
A notebook for a project or subject gives material context. A tag can connect subjects that do not fit neatly in one folder. I also mentioned newspaper articles, street names, screenshots and PDFs. These are different kinds of information, which makes a single searchable collection appealing.
The problem then shifts from saving to retrieval. Give a note a title you would search for later. Add a sentence about why you kept it. Otherwise, a digital inbox soon resembles a drawer full of loose paper.
Check current features
Evernote still documents its web clipping feature. Check its current documentation for the input methods, search features and plans that fit your needs. My old post also carried an affiliate link; that is no reason to choose a service.
The lasting lesson is to capture an idea while it is fresh, then keep the system simple enough to use consistently.
